We envision by the year 2030, to reduce food insecurity by 30% among low income households in Kenya and beyond, through a sustainable distribution system which makes chicken protein and related micronutrients more accessible in the region by linking 90% of our registered farmers from Northern Kenya to a bigger market in East Africa.
Our current mission target is to reach 50% of low income households in Northern Kenya with quality, adequate and affordable chicken protein and related micronutrients by the year 2022.
The brief story of Kulamawe poultry Industries based in Isiolo county. Kulamawe, source for chicken from women and has mainly employed youth. The company sell chicken part at affordable prices making chicken accessible by the low income consumers.

Our infrastructure includes a slaughter house which is located on the outskirts of Isiolo Town, Kambi ya Juu area, a 10 minute drive to the Isiolo International Airport.
It is equipped with a current capacity of manually processing between 500-1000 chicken a day with plans of scaling its production capacity to 5000 birds a day with a semi-automated system by the year 2021. The plant has also invested on its own feeder farms to streamline the quality and supply of chicken to our niche and emerging clientele.

KPI Ltd has always sought to improve the level of farming in Northern Kenya to admirable international Standards.
We have an existing partnership MoU with the Department of Agriculture, Food science and Nutrition at the Meru University of Science and Technology in the areas of research, product testing and industrial attachment to students. Furthermore, the plant has been in collaboration with the University of Nairobi, Food Science Department - RELOAD project which is also a research program involving the University of Kassel (Germany) and the Ewaso Nyiro Development Authority in Isiolo to test technologies that reduce post-harvest losses in meat.
We have since partnered, as a change agent, with other stakeholders operating in Northern Kenya like the World food Program, The Kenya Rapids, Veterinaires Sans Frontieres, Action Aid and many other NGOs to transform the pastoralist community around Northern Kenya through livelihood projects that mainly target the youth and women. On matters of quality assurance in poultry, we have secured partnerships with crucial value chain players like Sidai Africa Ltd, a social enterprise providing farmers with veterinary inputs and veterinary extension services at an affordable cost.
Our mission is to improve chicken availability as a nutritious food offering proteins, micronutrients; Iron, zinc, Folate, vitamin B & copper to remedy the nutritional gap among the low income households in Kenya. Therefore, we efficiently package small quantities of chicken that are affordable to this income bracket where our network of grilling outlets and butcheries target children, adolescents, lactating mothers and street families.This intervention is important towards supporting malnourished demographic groups with access to a nutritious source of protein for brain development, body growth and immunity boost within the communities.
